What Is Solderable Magnet Wire?

Solderable magnet wire is an enameled winding wire that can be tinned directly through the enamel under defined soldering conditions, removing a separate wire-stripping step from qualified coil-termination processes. Jingda supplies it with copper or aluminum conductors in thermal classes 155 and 180.

Why direct soldering matters

Every joint on a conventional enameled wire needs the film stripped — mechanically or chemically — before termination. A solderable polyurethane film tins in the solder bath itself, so qualified processes skip that step entirely: fewer operations, fewer damaged conductors at the joint, and a termination that is set by bath temperature and time rather than operator skill.

What you get

  • Excellent direct solderability under the conditions defined for the selected product
  • Insulation that is non-corrosive to the conductor
  • Copper and aluminum conductor options across classes 155 and 180
  • Tight pinhole control — Grade 2 insulation continuity of 5 pinholes or fewer, tested lot by lot in Jingda’s CNAS-accredited laboratories

Ordering, Packaging and Delivery

Commercial termDetail
Minimum order quantity600 kg per type and conductor diameter. Sample and pilot-order quantities are agreed case by case.
Lead timeStock available: dispatch from the next working day. Scheduled production: normally within 30 days, confirmed per order.
IncotermsFOB by default; other Incoterms on request.
Quotation responseWithin 1 business day.
Spool types and packaging — copper and aluminum systems

Copper and aluminum spool families are supplied according to conductor type — copper on the PT-25 / PT-45 / PT-60 / PT-90 system, aluminum on the PT-25 / PT-60 / PT-200 / PT-270 system. Single spools for samples are packed in a wooden case or paper drum; volume shipments use fumigation-free wooden pallets with cartons or fibreboard collars and stretch film. Exact spool weight and pallet build are confirmed per order.

Frequently Asked Questions

What soldering temperature and time should be used?
The exact solder-bath temperature and immersion time are stated in the selected product specification and depend on conductor size and film build. Jingda’s technical team aligns soldering parameters with your termination process during qualification.
Copper or aluminum — how do I choose for a solderable coil?
Both conductor options tin through the enamel. The choice is made by the coil design — resistance target, weight and cost basis, winding equipment and termination method — and each configuration is reviewed against the application before quotation.
What is the difference between Grade 1 and Grade 2 for solderable wire?
Grade 1 (Single) has the thinner film with an insulation continuity of 10 pinholes or fewer; Grade 2 (Heavy) roughly doubles the film build, holds continuity to 5 pinholes or fewer and gives higher breakdown voltage. Fine coils that need minimum overall diameter use Grade 1; most production windings specify Grade 2.
Should I choose class 155 or class 180?
Start from the hot-spot temperature of the finished coil. Class 155 (MW-79C / MW-79A) covers most small-motor, relay and sensor coils; class 180 (MW-82C / MW-82A) adds thermal margin for higher-duty windings while keeping the same direct-soldering behavior.
Can Jingda supply non-standard diameters or film builds?
Yes. Metric, AWG and SWG diameters within and around the 0.100–0.800 mm range can be produced, and film build is reviewed against the termination process by the technical team.
Can we become a Jingda distributor or agent?
Yes. Jingda works with distributors and agents across Europe, the Americas, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Japan, and is open to new partners in markets where coverage can be strengthened. Send your company profile, the market and industries you serve, and the product families you want to carry, and the export team will follow up.
How does Jingda support customers after the order?
Jingda’s technical team supports soldering-parameter alignment, winding trials and problem analysis during qualification. Documentation including the datasheet, quality certificates and compliance reports is issued with the order, and production lots are traceable to the test records held in Jingda’s CNAS-accredited laboratories.
